Dear traveller,

I have spent most of the last decade travelling- twenty-five countries, several of them twice or three times over – and I’ll say plainly what most founders dress up: I am obsessed. Not with counting countries. With what happens when you stand in a place everyone has photographed and find the door nobody noticed.

The ones I loved, I went back to, because the second visit is where a place stops performing for you. Somewhere in those years I noticed my pattern: I’d do the famous thing everyone flies in for, feel it land for exactly one photograph – and then spend the rest of the trip following whatever was two streets behind it. The workshop with its door half open. The ceremony the guidebook gave one line to. The grandmother who waved me in because I’d lingered, fascinated, watching her hands work. Those detours became the whole point. I started planning trips around them,  and coming home with stories my checklist-travelling friends couldn’t quite believe came from the same city they’d visited.
