The Story Edition

Morocco – Marrakech to the Sahara to Fez · one unbroken line across a storytelling country.
Edition I · The Founding Circle · Late March 2027

Morocco is one of the last countries on earth where storytelling is not a performance — it’s how truth has travelled for a thousand years. The circle of listeners in the square. The master and the apprentice. The pause before the turn.

Nine days. One crossing — the pink city, the High Atlas, the dunes, the medina of Fez. And one question: what’s the story you’ve never told?

The Nine Days

what happens when it finally goes quiet?

DAY 01-03

Marrakech. Finding the story.

The road up the valley does the first unwinding. Riverside rooms, the first fire, and a circle of twenty that has been curated to travel well together. No agenda beyond dinner.

DAY 04

The Crossing.

The 4x4 convoy climbs the High Atlas - the road becomes a chapter of its own. A golden-hour walk through Aït Benhaddou, the ancient earthen citadel. Night in an oasis kasbah beneath the palms: the pause before the desert.

DAY 05-06

The Sahara. The Telling.

Through desert-edge landscapes to Erg Chebbi - real dunes, the ones you've pictured all your life. Two nights at a private luxury camp, with the fire circle entirely ours - because what happens there cannot share a stage. A sunset camel ride into the erg (a 4x4 for anyone who'd rather). And then the reason this journey exists: two nights, one fire at the centre of the camp, and each explorer tells the story they've never told - with the masters' craft in their mouths and the circle holding still around them. Filmed, beautifully, for you alone. A morning with musicians in a village at the desert's edge, where music has always been medicine. Dunes at dawn for whoever wakes.

DAY 07-08

Fez. The return..

The long northbound road out of the Sahara - deliberately slow, because after the fire, people need road and silence. Then Fez: the world's most intact medieval medina, a living library of craft and knowledge, walked with someone who grew up reading it. On the final evening, a farewell gala in a candlelit riad - the circle changed, and knowing it.

DAY 09

Departure.

Or two more nights north: the blue-washed mountain town of Chefchaouen, where there is gloriously nothing to achieve.

DAY 06

Return.

An early walk to a centuries-old wooden temple in the forest - no crowds, just deodar and prayer flags and the occasional bell. Breakfast, the final circle, and the drive down. You leave slower than you arrived. That's the point.

What you'll leave with

Your Telling, Filmed

Your story, told by firelight in the Sahara, professionally filmed and edited. Yours alone, for life.

The Cohort Story-book

Twenty stories, transcribed and bound, with photographs of the crossing.

The Sealed Letter

The next chapter of your story, written on the last morning, posted to you six months later.

And the Intangible That Matters Most

A person who has told the untold story once can tell it again. The fire unlocks the voice; the voice stays unlocked.

Held By

Preeti walks beside the circle the whole way - not teacher, not guru; the one who holds the container while Morocco does the teaching. The craft itself is taught by master storytellers of Marrakech's living hikayat tradition - people whose grandfathers held circles in the same square. She holds the person; they hold the tradition. The journey is the two together.

Stay

Character riads in Marrakech and Fez, an oasis kasbah, and a private luxury desert camp

Duration

 9 days, 8 nights

Circle

 20 explorers

The journey itself - Eight nights, twin-share: character riads in Marrakech and Fez, an oasis kasbah, and two nights at a private luxury desert camp. Your private 4x4 convoy across the country, with professional drivers and room to rotate between vehicles - the road is part of the design.

The people - A dedicated English-speaking journey director handling every practical detail, so nothing is ever your problem. Local guides who grew up reading the places they'll walk you through. Sessions with master storytellers of Marrakech's living hikayat tradition. And Preeti, holding the circle from the first dinner to the last.

The experiences - The storytelling craft sessions. The golden-hour walk through Aït Benhaddou. A sunset camel ride into the dunes (with a 4x4 alternative - no one has to ride). A private music encounter at the desert's edge. Two fire nights at the heart of the journey. Monument entries throughout.

The table - Breakfast every morning. The rooftop welcome dinner in Marrakech. Full board in the desert. The farewell gala in Fez. The remaining meals are deliberately yours - the medina's food stalls and café tables are part of the education, and some of the week's best conversations will happen over a lunch nobody scheduled.

What you carry home - Your telling, professionally filmed and edited, delivered privately to you alone. The bound story-book of the circle. The sealed letter, posted to you six months on.

Before and after - A welcome pack, your circle-of-five, and one video call before anyone flies - so you land among familiar voices. A cohort circle two weeks after you're home, because the journey doesn't end at the airport.

International flights (fly into Marrakech, out of Fez - we'll help you plan the routing), Morocco e-visa, travel insurance (required), meals beyond those listed, alcohol, personal expenses, and gratuities. Single rooms available on supplement. The Chefchaouen extension is priced separately.
